Wow!

Exactly 3 years ago I moved to Louisville! I think it was move # 52...and I never thought I would stay here this long! I really like it here. I miss the west coast, but it's quite lovely here in Kentucky! Who knows when and where I will go next, so for now I am just enjoying life. I learned if you keep waiting for the next thing, life just passes you by. I can't even believe how quick the past 3 years went by!

Well hello there!

Nothing much to write about lately! Just busy with school for the most part!

I am doing Weight Watchers - so far I have lost 6lbs! Woohoo! Finally founds something I can stick too. It really isn't that hard, I just have to watch what I eat...and fit in my point guidelines! I am having fun reading WW forums, and searching for recipes!

Halloween!

I love this time of year!! Scott and I went to a costume party last night, I went as Sarah Palin! I got a lot of laughs, and people loved my costume :). I had a blast! It's been years since I dressed up!

Well hello there!

I have been neglecting my blog big time!!

It's been a busy few months! School is kicking my butt...but in a good way.

Get this our power went out today!!!!!!!!!! We were without power for 8 days in September due to the storm. Today I was getting ready to enjoy a day shopping, and running errands. BOOM, all the power in the house went out!! I about had a heart-attack. I thought "calm down, must be a fuse"...I look out the window, and see a power company truck! WHATTTTTTTTT! I had a towel on my head,no makeup and looked horrible. I pulled on some clothes and ran outside. The worker said we got a disconnect notice and he was told to turn off our power.

I think not! I paid the bills! There mistake. The worker BROKE our meter in the process! So long story short, we had to get an electrician to come out and fix it, before the power company would turn our power back on. The process took 8 hours, 6 men and tons of pissed off neighbors! We live in townhouses, and they shut everyone's power off for 30 minutes. What a day...I am beat. Time for a bubble bath, and then my nice warm bed!

More pictures!

While I am at it...I think I will put up some new pictures of the cats! I LOVE photography, and they are great "subjects"!

Luna and Stella the naughty twins!

During the power outage - Luna says "Get your own flashlight!"

Oodles of poodles!

We are babysitting Bitsy for 5 weeks! Wilmer and her are going to have sooo much fun!! I have been wanting 2 dogs, so this should be fun :).

Life is getting back to normal!

Our power was restored a few days ago! What a nightmare! It was the worst week ever..fun at first, but then very frustrating. It's nice to have things back to normal! It sure makes you appreciate what you do have, when something like this happens. I think everyone in the city has power restored, we were one of the last to get it back!

No electricity!!

We had 80mph winds here on Sunday! It left some 400,000 residents without power. A lot of power has been restored, but sadly not ours. It was cool for the first 2 days, hang out on the patio, have a bbq, eat by candelight...but now DAY 5 and no power. It's getting very, very frustrating. Cold showers, no morning coffee, no clean laundry, plus a lot of our food will need to be tossed :(. This really, really sucks.

Strange weather!

We are definetly being affected by hurricane Ike!! It is rainy and very windy here! I was hoping for a nice almost fall weekend. I should just be thankful we do not live anywhere near Texas! I can't imagine what those people are going through. I really feel for the people with a lot of pets! It's hard enough to get yourself and your children out of there. A lot of people stay behind because of their animals. That would be me, I would rather die with them than leave them behind!!

Having pets is expensive!

I feed five cats and one dog! They are spoiled, and worth every penny! But I am always trying to cut costs :). I just found this link for a Purina Coupon. If you can find the cat food on sale, and use the coupon to go with you can feed them for very cheap! I have heard this coupon resets itself every month, so save the link.

Purina makes all kinds of pet food like Friskies, Fancy Feast, Cat Chow, Mighty Dog, Dog Chow, Kibbles n Bits, etc…

Plus they donate a buck to your favorite shelter!

Algebra!

My favorite class ever. Seriously my brain hurts!! Who knew after 13 years since taking this class it would be so hard! Not only is it difficult, the teacher is very high-strung, and the class is full of wannabe thugs. I sit in front just to avoid having to look at their butts hanging out of the back of their chairs. Seriously, pull your pants - NO ONE thinks you look cute, and no one wants to know you are wearing "Monday" boxers on a Thursday! While I am at it, take the tag off your hat! Do you plan on returning it after wear it? I certainly hope not. What a lovely fad.

I love college. I love college...really I do!

I have the cutest pets in the world!

The cats are Luna, Stella and Bruce! They are always doing something naughty, and love to pester me!

Bruce is needy and lazy, but he is adorable and loves to cuddle - ALL 15 POUNDS OF HIM LOL! Luna spends the day chasing her tailing, and sleeping. Stella lays on her back most of the day - very odd for a cat...the little hussy!

Good morning!

Well it's morning to me!

Not a lot planned today, and that makes me happy! It seems during the summer months there are always a million events, birthdays, and outings that we go to! It gets tiresome.

Today I will do my homework, go to the gym, and pick up a few groceries. This weekend was rather lazy! Friday Scott and I went to a friends for cocktails, yesterday we ran a few errands and had lunch at the brew pub, then came home and watched movies!

I have a busy week ahead! Piles of homework, an exam, not sure what else. I do know I MUST go to the gym at least 3 times this week! I am slacking! I am so sick of this big fat butt I see in the mirror - WHO IS THAT LOL! I have gained about 25lbs over the past 2 years...it's time to say goodbye to those pounds! Anyone want them?

Interesting week so far!

Monday was Labor Day, and I had no school! It was a nice longggg weekend! Yesterday I was all excited to go back (dorky I know), when Wilmer my poodle start behaving oddly! I took him to the emergency vet...turns out he was constipated. How embarrassing! My poor baby. 105$ to tell me that, oh well he is worth it!

I am already excited about holiday shopping!!

One of my favorite days of the year is BLACK FRIDAY!!! I am sure many of you can relate! We love to shop! It's one of my favorite things to, especially when I can find good bargains. There is an awesome site that has all the store ads in one place! I love to browse them all, and map out my game plan for the day. Sound silly? No way! You need a plan on Black Friday! This site is by far the best cyber monday . It is very well laid out, and very easy to navigate!

One of my favorite places to shop on Black Friday is Circuit City! You can get some insanely good deals. I have picked up DVD's there for 3-4$ a piece, what a bargain - makes awesome stocking stuffers! Here is their ad Circuit City

Great deals their on electronics as well! I buy a ton of clothes on Black Friday as well! I have picked up sweaters for under 5 bucks, jeans, shoes, etc...I do ALL of my Christmas shopping on this fabulous day! I think it needs to be it's on Holiday! Some of my friends and family work this day, I feel sorry for them! Of course every year, someone will see something they want in a Black Friday ad and ask me to pick it up for them! No way! Cutting into my shopping time LOL! I also pick up a lot of household items for myself this day, things for the pets, and much more! I am counting down the days...see ya there

So yes it is worth the crowds! It is worth the rude people shoving and yelling, and trying to beat each other to the "deals"! Of course I don't act like that...and I encourage you to behave as well ;). It is supposed to be fun! If I miss a deal, so what - there are plenty more! Start checking out the ads now! I like to print them out closer to the day, and cut out the places I want to shop at, then decide my order. I think I got it down to a science!

Dark and rainy today!

The PERFECT weather for relaxing on the couch, with my dog and a good book! I love days like this! My 2nd class of the day was cancelled, and I really don't have much to do. NICE timing!

About time...

I have been driving around with dings all over my car for nearly a year! I have been browsing around for an auto body repair company for a few days. I contacted this company auto body repair and they already responded! Awesome customer service, and their prices are very comparable. I can't wait to get my car in, driving around like this is embarrassing!!

Sunday!

Already! Today I am just bumming around. I did LOTS of homework, some cleaning and cooked. I really need to get groceries...but that can wait for tomorrow.

Last night was Philip's 30th Birthday party! We had lots of fun! He has some awesome friends that I had not met. All in all, it was a pretty fabulous weekend.

Friday!

Is finally here!

It has been a longgggg week! But a fabulous week, being back in college is awesome! I like my classes for the most part!

Tonight is Heather's birthday party! We are leaving in about an hour to head over there, I need to stop and get her a present though. I made chocolate covered strawberries to take, and will bring wine, beer and some spinach dip (store bought). Should be a fun evening with good friends, good find, and good conversation :)!

Almost time...

for school to start!!! It's been nice having some time off, but I am so ready to go back to college! It will take me about 2 years to get a degree in Network Administration...but that will go by fast!

This week I had a list of projects, now it is Thursday and I really have not done much. Oh well such is life! It was nothing that important anyway.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

What a fabulous weekend!

Scott's birthday was Friday! We had a fairly quiet night, he opened presents (which he loved) then we went out! We met a few friends at Irish Rover for beer and appetizers. Nothing to crazy, didn't want to be hungover for Saturday ;).

Saturday night we met about a dozen people at BBC for drinks, then headed over to Stevie Ray's! It was a nice turnout! Friends, great cocktails, live music...what more could you ask for!

I usually dread Mondays! But not this week! I am not working at that job anymore...so this week I will clean house, do some painting, run errands and get ready to go back to school! COLLEGE STARTS AUGUST 18th!! WOOHOOO!!

Thursday, August 7, 2008

This week has been rather uneventful! I was so hoping this would be my last week at work...but they have not hired anyone yet - even thought 40+ people applied! Worst case scenario I am stuck there until next Friday. I can handle that I suppose!

Tomorrow is Scott's Birthday! He will be 35 :D. Poor guy is getting a root canal on his birthday, so no huge plans! He can open his presents, then we may go out for drinks. The celebration is planned for Saturday, lots of friends, good food, good beer, and good live music!

I got a card in the mail yesterday...

I got a card in the mail yesterday..
from my Grandmother. I sent her some cookies for her birthday and she sent me a thank you note. I think she is 78, not really sure. Anyway, thought you may get a kick out of what this Grandmother writes about LOL!

Dear Michelle,

Thanks for my favorite cookies - I've spent the last 2 days eating till I felt ill, haha (then she drew a picture of some animal and wrote "Fat dancing deer" - huh)! Nothing new here, except I got a couple new tatoos (my flash, of course!!) for my birthday. I'm running out of skin that's in good enough shape to ink. My next one will proably be "Do NOT resuscitate" haha! Also I did alter a few myself slightly, but # gauge single needle - no gun.

Alex (my 16 year old cousin) made a tatoo gun out of a broken c.d. player with instructions off the internet. Gina (his mom) gave him a lecture about sterile practices with a home made gune you have to put on a new needle/guitar string/whatever and a new barrel (usually a bic pen) for every person. If its for your own personal use, you only have to boil the needle for a 1/2 hour.

We have a "new" cat - 16 yr. old who came here weighing 2.5lbs - she is now up to her normal 5.5 (VERY small cat) and on hyperthyroid RX. Her old owner turned her chip number over to us, as they thought she was dying of old age and aren't really all that into cats anyhow, they have 1 dog 2 autistic sons. Love forever, Grandma she also drew a picture of a motorcyle at the bottom...

It's been a long week!

I haven't had much to post about! Just working, the usual.

Oh wait, I have exciting news! I put my notice in at work!! 2 more weeks at that place, then off to college! Yay me!

Silly pets!

It's no secret, my pets are SPOILED! I buy them toys constantly! They have scratching posts, feather wands, laser pen, a ton of furry mice, catnip, balls, and much more. However leave a box sitting out, and it's the most coveted spot in the house!

Weekends are way too short!

I had a great weekend, but I can't believe it's already Sunday evening! I didn't get much cleaning or laundry done...but that is okay. I had fun this weekend! Friday night we went to a fabulous restaurant for a friends birthday dinner, then had after dinner cocktails at another place.

Last night my friend Philip came over. I cooked him Carribean Jerk shrimp and home-made bread for dinner! We caught up over a bottle of wine. It was really nice! We hadn't seen each other in months, but within minutes it was just like old times. Funny how that works!

My blog got approved today for Pay Per Post! Soon I will be doing reviews on my blogs for different companies and items. Seems like a great way to make a few bucks!

I think tomorrow I will put my notice in at work...I hate doing that, it feels so akward. I start school in a few weeks and can't wait!!

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

I am Betty Crocker!

Actually better ;). Today a woman at work gave me a huge box of blackberries! So I have spent my evening making blackberry jam, and home-made bread! It's going to be delicous.

Funny my idea of cooking used to be....heating up soup and making toast!

Your mom goes to college!

I enrolled in school yesterday! Wooohooooo! I start in 4 weeks, I am very excited! I will be taking general ed classes to start. Then I will enroll in the Network Administration program. I am sick of working crappy jobs, and I know I will be stuck in that routine if I don't do something about it! Time for a change!

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Funny how things change as you get older! I find myself spending money on practical items vs. buying as little as possible to get by, and spending the rest on fun things or going out!

I just spent 160$ on a damn carpet cleaner (Hoover SteamVac), and I am excited about it LOL! That makes nearly 400$ spent on vacuums this year. I bought a Roomba earlier this year, and last month a pink Dirt Devil Kone handheld vacuum.

2 years ago I bought the cheapest (25$), crappiest vacuum I could possibly find. Now look at me...

Yesterday I spent over 60$ on new bathroom stuff, before I would buy any color and not replace them until they fell apart!

What has happened to me!

Lazy Sunday!

Today I don't plan on doing much! Probably some laundry, and cleaning up the house a little bit. This weekend was fun! Friday night Scott and I went to a few different bars, had dinner and some drinks. Last night we went to a friends house for a small party. Everyone was playing Wii bowling, and Wii dance...it was rather entertaining!

I FINALLY got new bathroom stuff yesterday! After going to 8 stores, I found what I wanted! Hopefully Scott will finish painting the bathroom today, so I can put all the new stuff in there ;). It will be greens and blues, very pretty! It feels like a dark cave currently. Getting excited over new bath stuff - does that mean I am getting old! *Gasp*

I am not looking forward to this week! The only person at work who ever helps me is going to be on vacation. Fun, fun. I really want to work from home! I have been researching work at home jobs for a few months, hopefully something works out...

Friday, July 18, 2008

Friday!

The weekend is finally here! This week was long, hectic and exhausting! It's hard to catch up after being gone nearly 2 weeks.

No plans set in stone this weekend...but lots of ideas! Tonight Scott and I will go out for dinner and drinks, maybe go see some live music. Tomorrow our YMCA is hosting a big yard sale for charity, we may go check that out and get a workout in ;). Sunday I'd love to go to the wineries. Oh and I need to clean house, laundry, all that fun stuff! I seriously need a maid!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Seriously?

Back to work tomorrow! After nearly 2 weeks of being off work, I am not really looking forward to it! Oh well I sure do need the money.

Today was semi productive for a Sunday! Scott painted the bedroom and bathroom white, it has been an on going project. Every wall upstairs was pepto-bismal pink! I am so glad it's gone :D.

Friday, July 11, 2008

Good morning!

Ahhhhhhhhh! It felt great to sleep in my own bed, and to get up at noon! I woke up to a soy vanilla latte from Starbucks on my nightstand! Scott is the best!

Not a whole lot planned today. I may go check out a college I am interested in, the blues festival also starts today, a little shopping, and we will more than likely go out to dinner.

A few pictures...

I LOVED Beale Street! The music scene is just incredible, the people, the sights, the crowds! Fabulous!

Our trip!

Scott and I flew out around 10am from Louisville, oh and Wilmer ;). We had a layover in Dallas for nearly 3 hours! We rode the train around, and then hit a bar for a bite to eat and a beer. Our flight was delayed for over an hour, some mechanical problems. Overall the flight was not too horrible. One of Scott's mothers co-workers picked us up at the airport. We spent the next few days helping plan the wake, funeral, eating, drinking, cleaning, telling old stories of Scott's fathers life, meeting lots of family members, relaxing in the pool and more. I really enjoyed his family!

Friends of Scott's parents came by constantly, delivering lots and lots of food, drinks, etc. It was very nice!! 4 hams came total LOL! The running joke everytime the doorbell rang was "Maybe it's a ham"! The way people pulled everything together and were so helpful was amazing.

Sunday was the wake. I don't think anyone realized how hard this would be. I am sure it will be the most difficult thing Scott will ever face. There was an open casket, as soon as his Mom saw it she started crying. Then of course chain reaction, and we were all crying. I am really glad I was there to support and comfort Scott, I think it really helped. Thankfully the family went an hour before everyone else. At least 50 people showed up! They all had great memories to share of Terry.

Monday was the funeral. It was in a Catholic church, very lovely. Again about 50 people were there. I sat up front with Scott, his mother, sister Alison and her husband John. I was very happy to be included in the family. I am not Catholic, nor have I been to a Catholic church (besides one wedding). I don't know, like many others how the whole thing works. When the priest offered the communion, I followed Scott up to get mine. I said THANK YOU to the priest, instead of Amen LOL! Oops. No one noticed except Scott's sister, she thought it was hysterical ;). I wasn't even sure when to eat it, so I just put it in my hand. After sitting down I contemplated sticking it in Scott's pocket...but instead put it under my seat slyly. Oh well, it's the thought that counts! Not everyone went up to get communion, I just did because I knew Scott and his Mom would appreciate it.

The next 2 days we got to relax a bit more, then headed out Wednesday morning. We drove nearly 600 miles to Memphis! Nice stopping point, we stayed in a hotel there of course. Scott and I hit the town! Beale Street is AWESOME! Bars, incredible music, shops, etc...Our first stop there was Pat O'Brien's. We met a nice older guy there, he offered us 2 seats at the bar. Chatted with him for awhile, and bought him a beer. Then off to a few more places, had great food, and a few drinks! We got lost on the way back to the hotel, being a man - Scott didn't stop for directions. We made it back okay though! Slept in until 10am, then headed to Louisville!
We got home around 7. The cats were so happy to see us! I had a huge pile of mail to go through, did that over a glass of wine. Scott was very pleased with all of the cards from the "cat ladies"!

The poodle canoodle!

Yes, I said it! Scott's mom bought her grandson an inflatable canoe for the pool. Well of course we put Wilmer (our toy poodle) in it. He LOVED it, pure bliss! Later we put Bitsy in it too (Scott's mom's poodle). They spent hours in that darn thing! It was our entertainment for a few days lol.

p.s. A second canoe was purchased, so the kids and dogs didn't have to share ;).

Is it time to go home yet?

Scott and I have been in Texas for a week...tomorrow we make the long drive back home to Louisville! I miss home! It's quiet there, my cats miss me, I miss my things! It has been a long, exhausting week. Everyone pulled it together very nicely all things considered. The wake was perfect, and at least 50 people showed up. The funeral was really nice, and again lots of people came. At the end of the funeral 3 soldiers performed the flag ceremony, I had never seen that before - very impressive and sad at the same time!

We have spent the week eating, drinking, laughing, mourning, telling old stories, looking through old photos and visiting with Scott's family. It was much needed for everyone, but now it is time to go home.

Getting ready for a trip...

is never easy! I thought oh no big deal, just pack clothes, makeup, and that sort of thing!

So far we -
Took the dog to the vet, he needs a health certificate to fly
Arranged a ride to the airport
Arranged a petsitter for the cats
Picked up prescriptions
Got a pedicure (hellloooo Texas is hot, sandal weather!)
Bought some new clothes, and toiletries
Cleaned house
Laundry

The list goes on! I am exhausted. Thankfully our flight isn't till 10am tomorrow! Nothing is worse than a 6am flight!

What a Monday...

Scott's Dad died this morning. His 2 year long battle with cancer has ended. We are very sad, but take comfort in the fact that he is out of pain and in peace. Scott, Wilmer and I will be leaving out of town Wednesday morning for about a week. Thankfully my work was okay with it, we have a petsitter, and a ride to the airport. It's nice when things happen smoothly during something tragic...

A fun filled Sunday cleaning house!

I am trying to get some stuff organized around here, it never ends! I have such nice little helpers though . Last weekend I bought new bedding. I kept the bags the bedding came in, to decide if I should toss or not. Anyway, we are going camping next weekend, so I decided to use the bags to pack up camping beddng in. I sat the bag in the living room and went to gather up the camping stuff. Within a minute little Miss Luna was in the bag LOL! All the pets but Bruce got a real kick out of playing in it...(they were supervised, and now the bag is put away lol). I also took a video which I will upload later!

One of the kids!

This is Wilmer, our crazy toy poodle! He is one hilarious dog, but thinks he is a cat.

My first blog!

Time to join the masses and start my own blog!

Well a little about me to start this off! I am 27 years old and I live in Louisville, KY. I have 4 furry kids, Luna and Stella the naughty kittens, Bruce the 15lb orange cat, and Wilmer the toy poodle (who I swear has a mini human in him). I live with my boyfriend, and all the pets! I currently work for a florist, but will be going back to college in the fall! I can't wait :).

I am addicted to coffee, I love to shop, take photographs, camping, movies, road trips, read and much more!
