It's been a long week!

Silly pets!

It's no secret, my pets are SPOILED! I buy them toys constantly! They have scratching posts, feather wands, laser pen, a ton of furry mice, catnip, balls, and much more. However leave a box sitting out, and it's the most coveted spot in the house!

Weekends are way too short!

I had a great weekend, but I can't believe it's already Sunday evening! I didn't get much cleaning or laundry done...but that is okay. I had fun this weekend! Friday night we went to a fabulous restaurant for a friends birthday dinner, then had after dinner cocktails at another place.

Last night my friend Philip came over. I cooked him Carribean Jerk shrimp and home-made bread for dinner! We caught up over a bottle of wine. It was really nice! We hadn't seen each other in months, but within minutes it was just like old times. Funny how that works!

My blog got approved today for Pay Per Post! Soon I will be doing reviews on my blogs for different companies and items. Seems like a great way to make a few bucks!

I think tomorrow I will put my notice in at work...I hate doing that, it feels so akward. I start school in a few weeks and can't wait!!

I am Betty Crocker!

Actually better ;). Today a woman at work gave me a huge box of blackberries! So I have spent my evening making blackberry jam, and home-made bread! It's going to be delicous.

Funny my idea of cooking used to be....heating up soup and making toast!

Your mom goes to college!

I enrolled in school yesterday! Wooohooooo! I start in 4 weeks, I am very excited! I will be taking general ed classes to start. Then I will enroll in the Network Administration program. I am sick of working crappy jobs, and I know I will be stuck in that routine if I don't do something about it! Time for a change!

Funny how things change as you get older! I find myself spending money on practical items vs. buying as little as possible to get by, and spending the rest on fun things or going out!

I just spent 160$ on a damn carpet cleaner (Hoover SteamVac), and I am excited about it LOL! That makes nearly 400$ spent on vacuums this year. I bought a Roomba earlier this year, and last month a pink Dirt Devil Kone handheld vacuum.

2 years ago I bought the cheapest (25$), crappiest vacuum I could possibly find. Now look at me...

Yesterday I spent over 60$ on new bathroom stuff, before I would buy any color and not replace them until they fell apart!

What has happened to me!

Lazy Sunday!

Today I don't plan on doing much! Probably some laundry, and cleaning up the house a little bit. This weekend was fun! Friday night Scott and I went to a few different bars, had dinner and some drinks. Last night we went to a friends house for a small party. Everyone was playing Wii bowling, and Wii dance...it was rather entertaining!

I FINALLY got new bathroom stuff yesterday! After going to 8 stores, I found what I wanted! Hopefully Scott will finish painting the bathroom today, so I can put all the new stuff in there ;). It will be greens and blues, very pretty! It feels like a dark cave currently. Getting excited over new bath stuff - does that mean I am getting old! *Gasp*

I am not looking forward to this week! The only person at work who ever helps me is going to be on vacation. Fun, fun. I really want to work from home! I have been researching work at home jobs for a few months, hopefully something works out...

Friday!

The weekend is finally here! This week was long, hectic and exhausting! It's hard to catch up after being gone nearly 2 weeks.

No plans set in stone this weekend...but lots of ideas! Tonight Scott and I will go out for dinner and drinks, maybe go see some live music. Tomorrow our YMCA is hosting a big yard sale for charity, we may go check that out and get a workout in ;). Sunday I'd love to go to the wineries. Oh and I need to clean house, laundry, all that fun stuff! I seriously need a maid!

Seriously?

Back to work tomorrow! After nearly 2 weeks of being off work, I am not really looking forward to it! Oh well I sure do need the money.

Today was semi productive for a Sunday! Scott painted the bedroom and bathroom white, it has been an on going project. Every wall upstairs was pepto-bismal pink! I am so glad it's gone :D.

Good morning!

Ahhhhhhhhh! It felt great to sleep in my own bed, and to get up at noon! I woke up to a soy vanilla latte from Starbucks on my nightstand! Scott is the best!

Not a whole lot planned today. I may go check out a college I am interested in, the blues festival also starts today, a little shopping, and we will more than likely go out to dinner.

A few pictures...

I LOVED Beale Street! The music scene is just incredible, the people, the sights, the crowds! Fabulous!

Our trip!

Scott and I flew out around 10am from Louisville, oh and Wilmer ;). We had a layover in Dallas for nearly 3 hours! We rode the train around, and then hit a bar for a bite to eat and a beer. Our flight was delayed for over an hour, some mechanical problems. Overall the flight was not too horrible. One of Scott's mothers co-workers picked us up at the airport. We spent the next few days helping plan the wake, funeral, eating, drinking, cleaning, telling old stories of Scott's fathers life, meeting lots of family members, relaxing in the pool and more. I really enjoyed his family!

Friends of Scott's parents came by constantly, delivering lots and lots of food, drinks, etc. It was very nice!! 4 hams came total LOL! The running joke everytime the doorbell rang was "Maybe it's a ham"! The way people pulled everything together and were so helpful was amazing.

Sunday was the wake. I don't think anyone realized how hard this would be. I am sure it will be the most difficult thing Scott will ever face. There was an open casket, as soon as his Mom saw it she started crying. Then of course chain reaction, and we were all crying. I am really glad I was there to support and comfort Scott, I think it really helped. Thankfully the family went an hour before everyone else. At least 50 people showed up! They all had great memories to share of Terry.

Monday was the funeral. It was in a Catholic church, very lovely. Again about 50 people were there. I sat up front with Scott, his mother, sister Alison and her husband John. I was very happy to be included in the family. I am not Catholic, nor have I been to a Catholic church (besides one wedding). I don't know, like many others how the whole thing works. When the priest offered the communion, I followed Scott up to get mine. I said THANK YOU to the priest, instead of Amen LOL! Oops. No one noticed except Scott's sister, she thought it was hysterical ;). I wasn't even sure when to eat it, so I just put it in my hand. After sitting down I contemplated sticking it in Scott's pocket...but instead put it under my seat slyly. Oh well, it's the thought that counts! Not everyone went up to get communion, I just did because I knew Scott and his Mom would appreciate it.

The next 2 days we got to relax a bit more, then headed out Wednesday morning. We drove nearly 600 miles to Memphis! Nice stopping point, we stayed in a hotel there of course. Scott and I hit the town! Beale Street is AWESOME! Bars, incredible music, shops, etc...Our first stop there was Pat O'Brien's. We met a nice older guy there, he offered us 2 seats at the bar. Chatted with him for awhile, and bought him a beer. Then off to a few more places, had great food, and a few drinks! We got lost on the way back to the hotel, being a man - Scott didn't stop for directions. We made it back okay though! Slept in until 10am, then headed to Louisville!
We got home around 7. The cats were so happy to see us! I had a huge pile of mail to go through, did that over a glass of wine. Scott was very pleased with all of the cards from the "cat ladies"!

The poodle canoodle!

Yes, I said it! Scott's mom bought her grandson an inflatable canoe for the pool. Well of course we put Wilmer (our toy poodle) in it. He LOVED it, pure bliss! Later we put Bitsy in it too (Scott's mom's poodle). They spent hours in that darn thing! It was our entertainment for a few days lol.

p.s. A second canoe was purchased, so the kids and dogs didn't have to share ;).

Is it time to go home yet?

Scott and I have been in Texas for a week...tomorrow we make the long drive back home to Louisville! I miss home! It's quiet there, my cats miss me, I miss my things! It has been a long, exhausting week. Everyone pulled it together very nicely all things considered. The wake was perfect, and at least 50 people showed up. The funeral was really nice, and again lots of people came. At the end of the funeral 3 soldiers performed the flag ceremony, I had never seen that before - very impressive and sad at the same time!

We have spent the week eating, drinking, laughing, mourning, telling old stories, looking through old photos and visiting with Scott's family. It was much needed for everyone, but now it is time to go home.

Getting ready for a trip...

is never easy! I thought oh no big deal, just pack clothes, makeup, and that sort of thing!

So far we -
Took the dog to the vet, he needs a health certificate to fly
Arranged a ride to the airport
Arranged a petsitter for the cats
Picked up prescriptions
Got a pedicure (hellloooo Texas is hot, sandal weather!)
Bought some new clothes, and toiletries
Cleaned house
Laundry

The list goes on! I am exhausted. Thankfully our flight isn't till 10am tomorrow! Nothing is worse than a 6am flight!
